Hey there lovely peeps! Here’s a middle of the week mani for you!
As you know I try to post Mondays and Fridays, but since I only finished The Bell Jar on Monday I didn’t get a chance to do and post my nails until today. Why? You may ask.
Well, every month as part of The Polished Bookworms (a big group of girls who love to read and love nail art) we read a book per month and then at the end of the month we post a mani inspired by the book.
May’s read was “The Bell Jar” by Sylvia Plath.
The book is about a girl Esther, who regardless of being beautiful, talented and successful goes under a dark emotional path and struggles with depression. It is an American classic and a truly shocking and compelling story. When I started reading it I didn’t know what it was about and thought Esther crazy, but she just had too much and did too much and felt herself under a lot of pressure.
On to Nail Talk
I did my mani in black and white because when we are sad and feel alone we don’t see colors or a way out, we feel in the dark and can not see the light.
I represented the pocket mirrors the girls for on they Ladies lunch with a white base and silver flowers on top. And to represent the feeling of being under a bell jar I did a saran wrap mani using dark tones, also with a thin brush I did a side french tip to create the feeling of confinement.
